Biography

Corinne J. Barringer M.A., CCC-SLP

Corinne Barringer holds a Masters Degree in speech pathology from Wayne State University and is certified by The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She has a background in theatre and performing arts, as well as a degree in anthropology. She has taught at Wayne State University, Lawrence Technological University, Oakland Community College, OCC–MTEC, Cranbrook Educational Community–Kingswood School, and Cranbrook Theatre School. She is a frequent guest lecturer at Eastern Michigan University.

She is a seminar speaker and published author. Her clients include: Chrysler Corporation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Great Lakes International Aviation Conference, “Life after Birth” (a Michigan Works! training project for single mothers), Doctor’s Hospital of Pontiac, Michigan Actors Studio, Actor’s Workshop, SemperMedia Group, Labyrinth Consultants, and John Deere–Asia.

The Michigan Department of Transportation, Bureau of Aeronautics, and the Michigan State Bar Association (Aviation Division) have published Ms. Barringer’s research on language and safety issues in aviation communications. “Ten Telephone Tips” was published in Suburban Lifestyles. Her latest is an online article for AIGA with her son, David Barringer: “Speak, Designers.” She has also illustrated and published a book with her son, David, and they are currently working on another.

Barringer Consultants has been providing speech, language and vocal training for over 13 years. Services include: accent modification; public speaking; non-verbal communications; listening-skills training; speaking for film, theatre, and media; presentation skills; diction; voice training for speech; and aviation communications. Ms. Barringer is also a volunteer representative (FAASTeam) with the Federal Aviation Administration.
